Forest TherapyÂ

Forest Therapy : Shinrin-yoku
This Japanese practice of spending time in nature supports both mental and physical wellbeing. It is the act of intentionally slowing down to listen to yourself and the natural world around you. Known as forest bathing, the connection it offers between body, mind and spirit is scientifically documented to reduce stress and anxiety and rejuvenate a tired mind.
Mindfulness activities in nature offer a simple and effective way of adding enriching experiences to life. These outdoor exercises are a great source of nurturing, caring groups that support each other in the time of need – just as a forest supports its individual trees.

Many people have turned to forest therapy walks to add calm and peacefulness back into their busy lives. While it is true that mindfulness is an individual practice, it is often easier to learn, practice, and grow when you take the journey into nature while being guided through the walk and while accompanied by a supportive, like-minded group. Some of the walk is a shared experience, some is individual, all is guided in order for you to receive what you need to during the time spent in the forest.

Forest Meditation
Often added to a Forest Cabin stay, these meditations run in groups or private settings. Surrounded by the trees and forest wisdom, you are led through meditation and encouraged to release stress and gain clarity.

Forest Yoga
Beginning with a gratitude statement and ending with guided meditation, this yoga happens in the heart of the forest and is a slow-flow yoga as you bend and sway with the trees.

Mindfulness Walks
Longer than Forest Meditation, walks are approximately three hours. You will walk about a kilometer as it is a slow and mindful, reflective walk led by your guide and ends with a sharing circle and forest tea.
